Program Objectives
Islington Dental Academy is committed to ensuring its students graduate with extensive knowledge and practical training to prepare them for a career in the dental profession.  Our diploma program is comprehensive and practical, students learn how to prepare dental operatories; lab procedures, dental radiology and sterilization. They will also study relevant areas of anatomy, microbiology and nutrition.  Students also receive training with office procedures such as bookkeeping and appointment control; this will allow you to contribute in all aspects of a dental office.

Under the direction of professional dentists, students will complete the mandatory 80 hour practical component.  The placement is arranged by Islington Dental Academy.

Career Opportunities
Upon graduating from Islington Dental Academy you be able to seek employment in private dental settings offering general dentistry or those specializing in such practices as endodontist, periodontist, orthodontist, pedodontist, and  prosthodontist.  Additional opportunities include dental laboratories, dental sales or dental manufacturing companies and public health.

Graduation Requirements

A student must obtain an overall average of at least 70% in order to graduate and receive a diploma.  A student may achieve a grade of less than 70% in any module provided that the overall average is at least 70%. Examination scores for both the theoretical and practical clinical/laboratory component must remain at 70% or above.

A total of 80 hours of clinical work must be completed. Prior to commencing the practical component , students must possess a Standard First Aid and CPR Certification (Level C – Basic Rescuer)
